Albany Medical Center appoints Dr. Dennis McKenna CEO: 4 things to know

Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center tapped Dennis P. McKenna, MD, to serve as president and CEO, effective in 2020.

Four things to know:

1. Dr. McKenna is currently an executive vice president and president of the faculty practice, which includes more than 500 physicians. He is also senior associate dean for clinical affairs.

2. Am emergency medicine physician, he was previously medical director of the hospital and medical director of the emergency department.

3. He served in the U.S. Marines on active duty as a medical officer.

4. Dr. McKenna succeeds James J. Barba, who plans to retire March 31, 2020.
