Doug Brewer is set to retire at the end of July as president and CEO of Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis, Ala., which operates under the Tombigbee Healthcare Authority and is a member of the UAB Health System, he confirmed to Becker’s.
Mr. Brewer has helmed the hospital since 2018. Before that, he served as president and CEO at Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega, Ala.; as chief administrative officer at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham; and as COO at the then-Tenet-owned Atlanta Medical Center.
Mr. Brewer said his hope after retirement is to do interim CEO work and healthcare consulting.
Patrick Trammell has been selected as interim CEO while a national search is conducted.
