WVU Healthcare Reaches HIMSS Stage 7

Morgantown-based WVU Healthcare has attained the highest level of electronic health record adoption and implementation, according to HIMSS Analytics.

WVU has become the fifth healthcare organization in the country to reach level 7 on the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model, and the first in West Virginia to earn the distinction.

Stage 7 organizations have completely electronic records, data-sharing capabilities and a data warehousing solution, among other requirements.

"Advanced, smart use of the electronic medical record has had a dramatic impact on our ability to support our mission to improve the health of West Virginians and all we serve," said Kevin Halbritter, MD, CMIO of WVU Healthcare, in the release. "Our goal is to deliver the right care in the right place at the right time at all our sites, and technology is helping us make that happen."
