WEDI establishes genomic data exchange: 3 things to know

The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange has developed a genomic data exchange workgroup, according to a HIT Consultant report. 


Here are three things to know about the workgroup.

1. The WEDI Genomic Data Exchange Workgroup co-chairs include:

•    Katherine Johansen Taber, PhD, director of the American Medical Association's Personalized Medicine Program
•    Adam Scott, vice president of consumer clinical strategy at Aetna
•    Grant Wood, senior IT strategist of the Clinical Genetics Institute at Intermountain Healthcare, based in Midvale, Utah

2. The workgroup will focus on creating a strategy for incorporating genomic data into the healthcare system, according to the report.  

3. The workgroup will address genomic data exchange issues such as privacy, security, storage, governance, care coordination and payer provider collaboration, according to the report.
