UPMC, Microsoft partner to reduce physicians’ electronic paperwork burden

UPMC and tech giant Microsoft have formed a multiyear partnership to reduce physicians’ time completing EHR paperwork so they are able to spend more time with their patients, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Officials said through the partnership, the organizations aim to transform the way physicians are able to deliver healthcare services using technology such as the cloud and artificial intelligence to better interact with their patients.

UPMC represents one of Microsoft’s first clinical partners under the company’s Healthcare Next initiative, which aims to transform the industry through research and product development.
