University of Missouri's Ambulatory Clinics Reach HIMSS Stage 7

Forty-four of Columbia-based University of Missouri Health Care's ambulatory clinics have received the Stage 7 Ambulatory Award from HIMSS Analytics, the organization's highest award for electronic medical record adoption and use.

As of the second fiscal quarter of 2013, just 1.6 percent of the 19,085 ambulatory clinics across the country have reached Stage 7.

"The development and adoption of advanced EMR technology is a top priority for MU Health Care because of its benefit to patient care," said Thomas Selva, MD, CMO of MU Health Care and a professor of child health at the MU School of Medicine in Columbia, in a news release. "Our achievement of this Stage 7 designation means physicians have immediate access to their patients' complete medical records electronically in the hospital and the clinic, helping them provide the best care."
