UMass Memorial, Boston Medical Center enter partnership with PatientPing

PatientPing, a Boston-based health IT company, entered new data-sharing partnerships with hospitals and health systems in Massachusetts.

PatientPing offers a real-time clinical event notification service, which aims to bridge gaps in patient care coordination by notifying providers when a patient experiences a care event at an unaffiliated facility. Its network includes more than 1,800 physicians in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire and New Jersey.

Its new Massachusetts partnerships include Boston Medical Center, Partners HealthCare and Steward Health Care — all in Boston — as well as UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester and Wellforce, the parent company of Boston-based Tufts Medical Center, Lowell General Hospital, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford.

"Patients may receive treatment at any number of these and other care sites," said Bill Shickolovich, CIO of Tufts Medical Center and its parent company Wellforce. "By sharing information, the patients' caregivers are most prepared to assist them and improve their long-term health."
