UAB selects Curtis Carver Jr. as CIO

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has named Curtis Carver Jr., PhD, vice president of IT and CIO, effective June 1.

In addition to his executive leadership duties, Dr. Carver will also hold an academic appointment in UAB's computer sciences division.

Dr. Carver most recently served as vice chancellor and CIO from the board of regents of the University System of Georgia based in Atlanta. He also has a 27-year long military career and held numerous leadership positions at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Dr. Carver is taking over duties from Jeff Neyland, who has been serving in this dual role in an interim capacity since 2014.
