Ms. Schade is CIO of University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Clinics in Ann Arbor, a position she has held since November 2012. During her tenure at U-M Health, Ms. Schade led the launch of the system’s EHR and helped the system reach Stage 6 on the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model.
The boards of directors for HIMSS and CHIMES select one health IT executive to receive the award each year who “ha[s] made significant contributions to their organization and demonstrated innovative leadership through effective use of technology.”
Ms. Schade’s health IT career spans 30 years, half of which she has spent as a CIO. Before coming to U-M Health System, Ms. Schade served as CIO of Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she is credited with leading the Balanced Scorecard initiative, which is a best practice that has been adopted by providers nationwide. Ms. Schade is currently a member of the CHIME Policy Steering Committee and the Michigan Hospital Association Health IT Strategy Committee. She is also a current board and executive committee member of the Great Lakes Health Connect.
Ms. Schade will be recognized on April 14, 2015 at the 2015 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition in Chicago.
