Here are the top eight challenges CIOs face in adopting new technologies, according to a global survey of more than 2,200 tech executives by KPMG released Sept. 29.
1. Lack of capable talent (data scientists, engineers, etc.): 44 percent
2. High cost of new systems and adding necessary talent: 32 percent
3. Lack of skills to implement or fully take advantage of new systems: 29 percent
4. Suboptimal data management: 28 percent
5. Risk-averse corporate culture that is slow to embrace change and disruption: 24 percent
6. Inability to secure data housed by systems: 16 percent
7. Lack of clear and transparent digital government policies throughout the organization: 15 percent
8. Legacy technology and/or technology debt: 14 percent
