The survey collects responses from more than 1,000 medical students to determine their opinions about medical training and industry practices.
Ninety-six percent of respondents said improving interoperability is critical to improving patient care. However, 44 percent are concerned with their ability to do so within a hospital or practice and 73 percent are concerned with their ability to do so with outside providers.
Respondents’ preference for technology as a tool slightly varies. Approximately four out of 10 students said they first use a medical app for clinical answers, while three out of 10 said they would first ask a peer for help. However, nearly all respondents — 98 percent — said they prefer face-to-face patient consultations over virtual ones.
