HeyDoctor, a direct-to-consumer telemedicine company, now allows physicians on its platform to prescribe patients naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal drug, the Politico Morning eHealth newsletter reports.

Using the HeyDoctor app, physicians can instruct patients on how to administer the drug, and patients can fill the prescription at any pharmacy.

HeyDoctor founder Brendan Levy told Politico that it’s “relatively easy to obtain naloxone at pharmacies,” but that telemedicine platforms can make it easier for patients who may be uncomfortable asking their usual primary care physicians for the drug, according to the report.
