Teladoc doubles Q1 revenue, but posts nearly $200M net loss: 5 notes

Teladoc Health more than doubled its first quarter revenue for 2021 compared to the same period a year prior, but posted a net loss of $199.6 million for the quarter.

Five things to know about Teladoc’s first quarter financial performance:

1. Teladoc reported a $199.6 million net loss for the first quarter of 2021, compared to a $29.6 million net loss during the same time last year.

2. Teladoc attributed the net loss to stock-based compensation expenses of $86.3 million for the quarter as well as costs associated with its Livongo and InTouch Health acquisitions.

3. The telehealth company’s first quarter revenue grew 151 percent year over year to $435.7 million.

4. Teladoc’s total visits increased 56 percent for the first quarter at 3.2 million total.

5. The company expects total revenue for the second quarter in the range of $495 million to $505 million, and total visits to clock in between 3.2 million and 3.4 million.
