As a result of the university’s recent acquisition of Lake City (S.C.) Community Hospital and Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree, S.C., MUSC physicians are providing virtual urgent care appointments to patients located in those rural areas.
“By bringing telehealth and by bringing some of our [physicians] here, they may not need to come to Charleston,” MUSC Health CEO Patrick Cawley, MD, told WCBD. “You can get everything done right here, and what family doesn’t love staying in town to get great healthcare.”
Through its urgent care telehealth program, MUSC treats conditions including the common cold, a sore throat and skin rashes.
