Prior to the telemedicine session, a Martha’s Vineyard Community Services nurse will take a patient’s vital signs at the clinic. The patient will then connect with an off-site psychiatrist from University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, who will conduct the session via videoconference.
The telemedicine clinic was constructed with the help of a $5,000 donation from Orleans, Mass.-based Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, a $4,200 donation from the Permanent Endowment Fund for Martha’s Vineyard and a $35,000 donation from a group of private donors, according to The Martha’s Vineyard Times.
