The concept of virtual medicine has existed for decades, yet the U.S. health care field has been slow to adopt enterprise-wide telehealth thus far. Most organizations start with a small pilot telehealth program, but this is not case for Thomas Jefferson University (TJU).
TJU launched a full enterprise-wide telehealth program to expand patient care, while also extending access to TJU physicians, peers and specialists throughout the hospital’s health care network — whether on-site or externally — to provide the same services patients are accustomed to in a manner that is more convenient, faster and less costly for patients and providers.
