SwedishAmerican installs newborn screening system to copy footprints into EHR

Rockford, Ill.-based SwedishAmerican Health System has implemented a newborn safety system that digitally saves baby’s footprints into their EHR.

The system, developed by CertaScan Technologies, copies a high-resolution image of a baby’s digital footprint into the electronic record as a form of identification, which can be used in the case of an emergency.

SwedishAmerican says it is the first hospital in Illinois to use LiveScan Technology.
