“2010 U.S. Ambulatory EHR Certification Survey” showed widespread confusion on several topics relating to ambulatory EHR certification. Fifty-two percent of the 850 providers surveyed said they think CCHIT certification is a prerequisite for receiving incentive payments for meaningful use, when in fact, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology will dispatch testing and certification bodies to certify EHR on behalf of vendors.
Fifty-two percent of respondents said they were unsure if they would purchase an EHR certified by a federally accredited organization other than CCHIT, a response that CapSite said is in line with the current level of confusion surrounding certification.
