The study, titled “2010 U.S. Health Information Management Study,” collected information from more than 500 hospitals across the country. It sought to analyze trends in the U.S. HIM market resulting from the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health component of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was passed in 2009.
Among some of the trends reported in the study, 50 percent of U.S. hospitals invested in RAC solutions to help prepare for RAC audits, which CapSite director of research Michael Lee said indicates the regulatory and compliance challenges hospitals are dealing with.
