Here are three things to know.
1. The lawsuit, Jane Doe v. Quest Diagnostics, Inc., et al., was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
2. The lawsuit alleges Quest Diagnostics was aware of hundreds of medical records being mistakenly sent to a Brooklyn marketing firm, an unauthorized third party, but failed to notify the affected patients.
3. “That Quest was on notice of this massive data breach for perhaps a year or more, and yet failed to take any responsible or required action, amounts to an egregious dereliction of duty,” said firm partner, Jeffrey Norton.
