Pri-Med announced the launch of a cloud-based EHR, InLight, designed for direct primary care physicians and practices.

The company claims InLight is the “first clinical documentation system designed to increase professional satisfaction while also improving quality of care” because of a more streamlined workflow.

Direct primary care physicians, a rapidly growing sector, are sometimes known as “private physicians” and do not channel payments through insurance companies. There are approximately 4,400 DPC physicians in the U.S., jumping from 146 in 2005, according to the American Academy of Private Physicians.

Pri-Med, an operating division of Boston-based Diversified Communications, claims the simpler design frees up DPC physicians to interact more with their patients. The company began developing InLight after it purchased AmazingCharts, an EHR provider, in 2012. InLight has a membership management tool instead of an insurance payout tool, allowing physicians to separate types of membership as well as payment schedules.

Pri-Med is offering a free 60 day trial of InLight and six months free with a year contract. After the six months is up, it costs $199 per month per provider.
