Premier Health sets patient portal app launch date

Vancouver, Canada-based Premier Health expanded the development team of Cloud Practice, a healthcare software company it acquired in January, and finalized the launch of its mobile app.

Premier Health hired additional staff, including three web software developers and a user interface/user experience designer, to launch a patient portal and mobile app in beta by the end of the second quarter. The patient portal will be integrated into Cloud Practice's Juno EMR, which is a cloud-based, open-source EMR software.

In the patient portal, Cloud Practice users will be given additional services through a software as a service model. Services will be rolled out to 290 clinics in Premier Health's network and beyond as the mobile app continues to develop.

"Our goal is to tackle the accessibility bottlenecks by putting the power in the hands of the patients," said Premier Health CEO Essam Hamza, MD. "Not only will our app enable patients' access to their healthcare providers, but also allow for cohesive patient care by coordinating and connecting all members of their healthcare team."

Premier Health is also exploring partnerships to install artificial intelligence tools into the app.
