Physician Specialties With the Highest, Lowest Rates of EHR Adoption

Currently, about 61 percent of all U.S. physicians use electronic health record software, according to a new infographic from the Berkeley (Calif.) School of Information.

The five physician specialties with the highest rates of EHR adoption include:

Dialysis: 80.6 percent
Internal medicine/ pediatrics: 75.8 percent
Nephrology: 70.5 percent
Pathology: 69.4 percent
Radiology: 69.2 percnet

The five physician specialties with the lowest rates of EHR adoption include:

Addiction medicine: 44 percent
Bariatrician: 40.6 percent
Psychiatric: 39.7 percent
Holistic medicine: 37.2 percent
Preventive medicine: 35.9 percent
