ONC Releases MU Stage 2 Patient Access Interoperability Guide for Health Information Exchange Orgs.

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has released its second interoperability guide for health information exchange organizations seeking to support the patient electronic access measures, part of meaningful use stage 2.

The guide contains:

    • A review of View-Download-Transmit and secure messaging meaningful use objectives and measures.
    • An overview of associated certification requirements.
    • A discussion of additional considerations for HIOs supporting VDT and/or patient secure messaging functionality, including potential documentation that may be required if an eligible provider is audited.
