ONC encourages non-governmental entities to submit test procedures, tools for Health IT Certification Program

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT reissued a rule permitting non-governmental bodies to submit test procedures, tools and data for use under the ONC Health IT Certification Program.

In January 2011, HHS issued a rule establishing the certification program for health IT. That rule indicated the ONC is open to approving test procedures, tools and data that meet approval requirements for certification criteria.

In the reissuance of the rule, the ONC says it “strongly encourage[s]” persons or entities to submit such information.
