The Oncology Research Information Exchange Network will be the first true national cancer database, providing a way to share insights, quicken discoveries and develop personalized treatment options for patients, said Michael Caligiuri, MD, director of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and CEO of the Arthur J. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, all in Columbus, according to the report.
The partnership will make use of Moffitt’s M2Gen and Total Cancer Care initiatives, the former allowing pharmaceutical companies to match targeted drugs to patients in ORIEN and potential candidates for drug trials, and the later to serve as protocol to share data and allow researchers to match candidates for clinical trials, according to the report.
