UHC, NYU Langone, Cleveland Clinic Partner for Automatic Data Intake Pilot

Chicago-based University HealthSystem Consortium has announced a partnership with NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City and the Cleveland Clinic on a pilot program to allow hospitals to easily submit and access both administrative and clinical data.

The Automated Data Intake Program will be initially deployed at NYU Langone and Cleveland Clinic. The ADI Program will extract information directly from the hospitals' IT systems, transfer the data to UHC and load the information into the UHC Clinical Database. The data will then be translated from disparate systems so it can be compared by hospital decision-makers. The program aims to eliminate manual data transfer and provide more timely access to data.

"This is an exciting opportunity to pilot the new ADI submission methodology, which will enable timely submission and receipt of clinically relevant, actionable data to further enhance the delivery of patient care in a cost efficient manner," said Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, senior vice president and vice dean, chief of hospital operations at NYU Langone Medical Center, in the news release.

A phased UHC member rollout is planned for 2014. The cost of the program is included in the UHC database membership fee.
