The news of Ms. McGraw’s departure follows reports in the Journal of AHIMA.
Iliana Peters, senior advisor for compliance and enforcement at the division of health information privacy, will act as deputy director for OCR Health Information Privacy until the agency can fill Ms. McGraw’s post.
“Through guidance, audits, investigations, and public outreach, HHS [OCR] has always worked to administer the [HIPAA] privacy, security and breach notification rules in a way that best balances the important protections for individuals’ sensitive health information with the interests of the regulated community,” the spokesperson wrote in an email to Becker’s. “OCR and its dedicated staff will miss [Ms.] McGraw, but will continue this robust mission of protecting health information with [Ms.] Peters as the acting deputy director for OCR Health Information Privacy.”
