Cleveland Clinic lists top 10 medical innovations to shape 2018

Cleveland Clinic has synthesized a list of the top 10 medical innovations it expects to disrupt healthcare in the next 12 months.

"Cleveland Clinic’s culture of innovation naturally fosters a good deal of discussion about new game changing technologies and which ones will have the greatest impact each year," reads Cleveland Clinic's 2017 Medical Innovation Summit event website. "The passion of our clinicians and researchers for getting the best care for patients drives a continuous dialogue on what state-of-the art medical technologies are just over the horizon."

Each year, the health system probes its clinicians and researchers on the "game changers" in their field. These interviews yield more than 150 nominations, which a team researches to finalize a list of up-and-coming technologies for two independent panels of Cleveland Clinic physicians to review.

Here are the 10 innovations the health system predicts will shape 2018, as announced at Cleveland Clinic's Medical Innovation Summit Oct. 25. The innovations are listed in alphabetical order.
