The survey, which is the third of its kind, included responses from 660 nurse informaticists. Key findings from the survey include the following:

  • The average salary of 2011 respondents is $98,702, compared to $83,675 in 2007 and $69,500 in 2004.
  • Nurse informaticists in the 2011 survey have had longer informaticist careers than those who responded to the 2004 and 2007 surveys, as more than 39 percent of respondents report they have been a nurse informaticist for ten years or more.
  • An equal percentage of respondents (approximately 60 percent) in 2004, 2007 and 2011 surveys do not have individuals reporting to them.
