Northgate Medical experiences internal data breach: 3 things to know

A former employee of Northgate Medical in Springfield, Mass., took patient information when leaving the practice, according to a Mass Live report.

Here are three things to know about the internal data breach.

1. The employee took the health information for marketing purposes, according to the report.

2. The stolen information included patient names, addresses, phone numbers and birthdates.

3. Northgate notified affected patients and notified the local authorities. The practice is urging patients to take steps to monitor their credit reports for any signs of fraud, according to the report.
