Movers and shakers: 9 latest leadership changes affecting health IT

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following health IT executive moves recently affecting hospitals, companies and federal agencies:

1. Andrew Trister, MD, PhD, left his post in the special projects division of Apple's health team to join the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

2. Microsoft selected David Rhew, MD, to serve as its new CMO and vice president of healthcare.

3. Ro, a New York City-based online pharmacy startup, tapped Todd Levy to serve as chief technology officer.

4. North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital recently announced Kristen Guillaume became vice president and CIO of the hospital last September.

5. Simon Mouyal will serve as chief marketing officer of Athenahealth.

6. The co-founder of DeepMind, an artificial intelligence lab owned by Google, Mustafa Suleyman, has been put on leave after controversy with some of his projects.

7. Cleveland-based University Hospitals named Maulik P. Purohit, MD, associate chief medical information officer.

8. Lisa Bookwalter, formerly the senior director of advertising for media company Healthline, has joined Twitter to oversee all U.S. health and wellness clients.

9. Paul Brient, former CEO at EHR software company PatientKeeper, joined Athenahealth as the health IT vendor's new chief product officer.
