University Hospitals taps Dr. Maulik Purohit as associate CMIO

Cleveland-based University Hospitals named Maulik P. Purohit, MD, associate chief medical information officer.

Dr. Purohit assumed the role Aug. 1, prior to which he was CMIO at University Health System in San Antonio. He also was CMO and chief of research at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence in Fort Belvoir, Va., which provides treatment planning services and outpatient clinical care to service members and their families managing traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions.

He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Medical Informatics Association and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

In addition to his medical training, Dr. Purohit holds a master’s degree in public health from Harvard Medical School in Boston.
