Movers and shakers: 6 latest leadership changes affecting health IT

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following health IT executive moves recently affecting hospitals, companies and federal agencies:

1. Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health promoted CIO Ben Patel to executive vice president, bringing him into the senior-most leadership team at the health system.

2. Mark Hurd, co-CEO of software company Oracle, passed away Oct. 18.

3. After a year and a half serving in the Trump administration, former HHS chief of staff Peter Urbanowicz is returning to his career as a healthcare consultant at Alvarez & Marsal.

4. Toby Cosgrove, MD, who previously served as president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic, has joined the board of directors for wellness and telemedicine startup Hims & Hers.

5. American Telemedicine Association announced the addition of four new members to its 2020 board of directors: Mike Baird, Joseph M. DeVivo, Andrea Gelzer, MD, and Yasmine Winkler.

6. Apple has hired New York City-based Columbia University Medical Center cardiologist David Tsay, MD, a person familiar with the matter confirmed to CNBC after Dr. Tsay updated his LinkedIn account to indicate he had joined Apple.
