The ransomware “exhibits worm-like behavior,” according to Microsoft’s notification, adding, “This ransomware leverages removable and network drives to propagate itself and affect more users.”

Microsoft suggest users help stay protected by keeping their operating systems and antivirus up to date, regularly backing up files in an external hard drive, using safe internet connections and two-factor authentications, among other  tips.

According to The Register, there is no apparent way to decrypt files without paying.
