Here are five things to know:

1. The first step in the partnership will be Humana transitioning its data to Microsoft Azure. This will give Humana providers a complete view of patients’ health histories. Additionally, Humana will roll out Microsoft tools to its 41,600 employees.

2. With the Microsoft tools, Humana plans to develop predictive solutions and intelligent automation to improve care. Providers will have access to real-time information through Microsoft’s cloud platform. Humana clinicians will have a holistic view of patients, ensuring preventive care, keeping up with medication schedules and refills and offering perspectives on social barriers to health.

3. Additionally, Humana will leverage Microsoft technology to develop a natural language understanding and speech recognition solutions. These will be aimed at improving administrative and clinician workflows.

4. By creating a language processing solution, Humana will be able to translate the different languages of a patient’s EHR as well as decipher non-electronic parts, such as socio-economic determinants of health.

5. Humana will also leverage Microsoft Azure and Azure AI to create on-demand and virtual medical services.
