Currently, Truven’s Micromedex CareNotes Patient Education product is available through MEDITECH systems, and now its new SmartEngage comprehensive consumer online resources and tools will also be available.
The new solutions suite offers health information articles, health education videos, medical illustrations and animations, risk assessments and quizzes for certain elective surgeries, such as bariatric surgery and hip and knee replacements.
“We anticipate that the Patient Connect Suite will help address our customers’ need to provide clinically accurate and consistent educational materials to their patients; and eventually support the electronic access to those same materials to patients following discharge,” said Robert True, senior manager of MEDITECH business development. “The use of appropriate, timely, patient-specific education helps patients understand their symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and home care instructions, and generally will improve a patient’s compliance with those instructions — which is a catalyst to preventing unnecessary future visits and assisting patients in improving their outcomes.”
