Mass General Brigham, Best Buy partner on home-based care

Mass General Brigham is partnering with Best Buy to create solutions that bolster the health system's home-based care programs while also addressing one of the healthcare industry's most pressing challenges: workforce shortages.

Under the partnership, Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham will use Best Buy Health's technology and support services, such as Current Health, a care-at-home platform that connects patients to healthcare providers, and Lively Mobile Plus, a personal emergency response system.

According to a Nov. 8 news release from the health system, these tools will help the health system streamline coordination and logistics for patients' care teams.

The aim of the partnership is to improve the patient experience for Mass General Brigham's Home Hospital program, one of the largest acute home-based care models in the U.S.

This partnership will also aim to address workforce shortages. According to the release, Best Buy Health and Mass General Brigham will invest in the community and create academic opportunities for individuals interested in nursing, paramedic and digital technology careers.

The health system and retailer will also offer scholarships to students aspiring to work in the at-home care setting.

Mass General Brigham is the latest health system to partner with the retail giant. Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger, New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System and New York City-based NYU Langone Health recently partnered with Best Buy on remote patient monitoring.
