This is Kura MD’s first venture capital funding. The investor, Moneta Ventures, invests in software and cloud service, IT services and Internet and consumer services. Kura MD combines a physician network with a telemedicine platform, accessible 24/7, that allows patients to contact a physician through a computer, smartphone or tablet.

The Roseville, Calif.-based company, founded in 2013, plans to use the additional funding to include more providers in its telehealth network, according to a news release. The platform uses elements of an EMR, a registration system, verification, billing, claims, video conferencing, practice management and an interface hub. The platform also allows providers to call in specialists during a telemedicine visit.

“While the benefits of the Kura MD telehealth services are significant to providers, we are also excited about the impact Kura MD will have on reducing healthcare costs for employers and enhancing benefits for their employees and providing patients access to quality healthcare 24/7 from virtually anywhere,” said Kevin Hamm, Kura MD founder and CEO, in a news release.
