VHC Health, based in Arlington, Va., has transferred its virtual urgent care operations to Sunnyvale, Calif.-based HealthTap, a physician platform.

The health system said in a Dec. 4 news release shared with Becker’s that the collaboration will allow its patients to connect with HealthTap’s U.S.-licensed, board-certified physicians for video visits without traveling to an urgent care clinic. Clinicians can diagnose common conditions, prescribe medications when appropriate and coordinate follow-up care with VHC Health providers and facilities.

VHC Health President and CEO Christopher Lane said the partnership supports the health system’s mission to deliver accessible, high-quality care.

The arrangement marks HealthTap’s first formal partnership with a health system. The virtual physician practice has previously worked with insurers, chronic care companies, consumer brands and other organizations.

Beginning in December, VHC Health patients can access the new service through the HealthTap platform, which will integrate with the health system’s digital infrastructure to support record continuity and care coordination.
