The state of Rhode Island is allocating nearly a quarter of its Rural Health Transformation Program funding to technology and innovation initiatives.
Gov. Dan McKee submitted a budget amendment to dedicate $16.7 million for rural health IT modernization for hospitals and other providers to boost interoperability, care coordination and value-based care and $16.2 million to expand capacity for rural hospital-at-home programs.
“We look forward to engaging with our rural health communities on next steps as we expand access, support our local healthcare workforce, and build innovative models of care,” said Richard Charest, secretary of the state Executive Office of Health and Human Services, in an April 2 news release.
The state received $156 million in its first-year award from the $50 billion federal program.
