New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System and Denver Health have joined PACT AI, a new coalition focused on building independent verification standards for artificial intelligence in healthcare and other industries.
The Partnership for Assurance, Credibility and Trust on AI brings together enterprise AI deployers, technical assurance providers and civil society groups to develop shared standards for testing whether AI systems perform safely and as intended. Founding corporate members include Target, Mount Sinai and Denver Health, alongside assurance firms Humane Intelligence, Apollo Research, UL Solutions, BABL AI, Eticas and Lucid Computing, plus AI insurer Armilla.
“AI has already begun transforming healthcare in multiple ways, including clinical decision support and tools that reduce documentation burden such that physicians have more time to deeply engage with their patients,” Mount Sinai Chief Clinical Officer David Reich, MD, said in an Aug. 26 news release. “We are joining PACT AI to help build the independent verification ecosystem to allow us to innovate with confidence.”
Bri Treece, executive director of PACT AI, said the organization aims to connect enterprises deploying AI with independent experts who can confirm systems are safe, secure and reliable. Founding members spent 90 days shaping the coalition’s governance structure and foundational commitments, including independence in assurance practices and accountability across the AI value chain.
PACT AI’s early work will focus on federal and state policy advocacy, professionalizing the AI assurance sector and growing the market for credible third-party AI verification.
