Cleveland Clinic has formed a strategic collaboration with Khosla Ventures to accelerate the development of new health technologies, including AI, digital health tools and next-generation therapeutics.

Here are five things to know about the collaboration:

  1. The partnership will give startups in Khosla’s portfolio the opportunity to work directly with Cleveland Clinic providers, allowing them to test and validate innovations in clinical settings. Cleveland Clinic said in an Oct. 14 news release that the arrangement also gives the health system earlier access to emerging technologies.

  2. The organizations are exploring joint incubation opportunities, including the potential launch of a new company, with Khosla leading technical development and Cleveland Clinic providing a clinical environment to test and refine new services. Cleveland Clinic has already entered into commercial relationships with several Khosla-backed companies and is evaluating additional opportunities for partnership and co-development.

  3. The collaboration will focus on several areas, including AI-driven diagnostics and care delivery tools, advanced therapeutics, new models for home-based and specialty care, and strategies for value-based programs. It also aims to advance next-generation therapeutics in cardiology, oncology, neurology and musculoskeletal care.

  4. Cleveland Clinic Innovations, the health system’s innovation arm, will help guide the commercialization of technologies developed through the partnership. Since 2000, it has transformed more than 900 technologies into licensed products and launched over 100 spin-off companies.

  5. The collaboration was announced Oct. 14 at the Cleveland Clinic Life Science Summit in London.
