The Lindner Clinical Trial Center was originally formed in 1988 as a department within the hospital, but then in 1999 began to operate independently. Throughout its existence, however, it has conducted more than 1,000 clinical trials in conjunction with The Christ Hospital.

The hospital did not disclose how much it paid for the center, but it did announce that the center will retain the name of its nonprofit component to become “The Carl & Edyth Lindner Center for Research & Education at The Christ Hospital.”

The acquisition will not only allow the hospital to expand its research opportunities but will give the clinical research center access to more resources, according to the release.

The center performs clinical trials that study everything from obesity to diabetes to new vascular interventional devices and has a strong community education component.
