How much CMIOs get paid

Most chief medical information officers will earn an annual salary of between $300,000 and $450,000 in 2023, a new survey found.

The October report from the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems and leadership search firm WittKieffer surveyed more than 215 physician informatics executives from organizations of various sizes, mostly health systems.

Here are the base salaries for CMIOs in 2023:

— Less than $300,000: 18%

— $300,000 to $350,000: 27%

— $351,000 to $400,000: 21%

— $401,000 to $450,000: 26%

— $451,000 to $500,000: 3%

— More than $500,000: 5%
