HIMSS Analytics presents the Stage 7 recognition for organizations that have “achieved all the steps necessary towards a paperless environment.” In 2015, it introduced the revalidation process to ensure the recognition continues to “reflect industry best practices, according to a Healthcare Informatics report.
Cincinnati Children’s received the recognition in large part due to its kidney transplant team. The team uses a pre-visit planning reporting tool that integrates data from multiple sources, including the EHR. It features risk scoring, patient adherence questionnaires as well as data on patient use of an electronic pillbox. This tool has helped lessen transplant rejections and has resulted in the hospital achieving 10,720 patient days between transplant rejections.
