HHS Awards $84M in Grants for EHR and HIT Adoption

The U. S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced the awarding of $83.9 in grants to help health centers adopt electronic health records and other health information technology systems.

The grants to 45 organizations will support EHR implementation projects and HIT innovation projects to improve quality, efficiency and patient safety.

“We need health information technology to bring our health care system into the 21st century,” said HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. “This essential technology improves the quality of care we all receive and helps make care more efficient.”
