The trigger-based surveillance module, built on the Health Catalyst Data Operating System, utilizes predictive and text analytics as well as concurrent clinician review of data to monitor and detect patient safety issues.

Later this year, Health Catalyst will add artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to the module to enhance its ability to identify patterns of patient harm.

Additionally, Health Catalyst has applied for certification as a Patient Safety Organization with the HHS’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Once certified, the company will be able to offer PSO services, including safety data review and vulnerability assessment.
