Mostly, the hospital and patients have had to deal with long wait times and delayed appointments, with some patients waiting up to two hours for their appointments, according to the report.
However, the glitches and kinks were not entirely unexpected, as the implementation of a new system includes new hardware, software and training for all staff, said Jim Ellis, MD, medical director of GHS University Medical Group.
“We thought long and hard about the best time to do this,” he told Greenville Online. “Volumes are typically down during the summer with people on vacations. But we knew some people would not be able to get in when they wanted. There definitely were some trying days.”
