Google sends employees back to school, but not as students

Google and other technology companies with locations in New York City are sending their employees to universities to serve as professors, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The goal is to ensure students have the necessary skills to join tech companies, including Google. Today, tech employees are teaching 22 computer science courses at the City University New York through a program known as Tech-in-Residence Corps.

Over the past three years, enrollment in the university's master of science in information systems program has tripled. However, the university has struggled to meet the demands of students.

With the help of Google, more than 1,500 students have completed 73 classes across nine CUNY campuses through the program. Professors are paid a $3,500 stipend per course.
